Integrated Circuit (IC) Layout Engineer, ASIC Team
HYPERLUME
INTEGRATED CIRCUIT (IC) LAYOUT ENGINEER
Hyperlume is a semiconductor company with a mission to transform data center connectivity with the world's fastest and most energy-efficient microLED-based interconnects. With AI models exceeding 1 trillion parameters and training clusters of more than 100,000 GPUs, higher levels of connectivity, driven by higher bandwidth, lower latency and lower energy consumption are needed to reach AI's full potential and solve some of the world's most challenging problems. As the world enters this new era of artificial intelligence, Hyperlume is committed to developing cutting-edge connectivity solutions in months, not years.
Hyperlume is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Integrated Circuit (IC) Layout Engineer to join our team. You will be responsible for designing and validating high-precision custom IC layouts for high-speed, ultra-low power analog and mixed-signal circuits. Your work will focus on advanced node technologies to meet stringent performance, power, and area (PPA) requirements, ensuring the precision, reliability, and manufacturability of cutting-edge ICs for next-generation optical communication systems.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Create and optimize IC layouts for analog and mixed-signal circuits, including amplifiers, data converters, filters, and power management blocks in advanced CMOS technologies (e.g., 16nm FinFET and below).
- Ensure designs meet PPA goals, adhere to foundry design rules, and pass DRC and LVS checks.
- Collaborate closely with circuit design engineers to translate schematics into robust layouts, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
- Perform post-layout parasitic extraction and support simulation teams in validating circuit performance.
- Optimize layouts for high-speed, low-noise, and low-power operation while minimizing area.
- Work with foundries and manufacturing teams to address layout-related challenges and improve yield.
- Document layout methodologies and best practices to ensure consistency, scalability and manufacturability.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- At least 3 years of experience in custom IC layout for analog and mixed-signal designs in advanced CMOS technologies.
- Proficiency in EDA tools such as Cadence Virtuoso, Mentor Graphics Calibre, or Synopsys Custom Compiler for layout, DRC, and LVS.
- Deep understanding of design rules, parasitic effects, and layout techniques for high-speed and low-power circuits.
- Proven experience in advanced node technologies (e.g., 16nm FinFET or smaller).
- Strong collaboration skills for working with circuit design teams and cross-functional groups.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail in a high-tech, fast-paced environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with layout of circuits for optical communication systems or high-speed data transmission.
- Familiarity with layout strategies for noise isolation and power integrity in mixed-signal designs.
- Knowledge of high-speed interface protocols and integration with optical transceiver modules.
- Prior experience in working with multi-site teams and managing complex layout projects.
- Prior experience working with foundries an asset.
HOW WE EVALUATE APPLICATIONS
- Merit: A proven track record of excellence in electro-optical systems, with hands-on expertise in optical system design and PCB integration.
- Excellence: A relentless drive to deliver high-quality solutions that redefine industry standards.
- Intelligence: A deep understanding of optical communication technologies and a hunger for continuous learning and innovation.
